Laura Triplett
The moment I would declare myself an "artist..." Where it all began - was one of the darkest periods of my life, to be honest. I was in an abusive relationship at the time, amongst multiple things - being gaslit, unable to express myself, and told that who I was, wasn't good enough. I grew infuriated. And much like an alchemist, I turned my rage into sheer beauty through a lifeline of making art.
The Importance of Self Expression
As human beings, the most important thing for us, is to find our passion. To meet our desires with showing up as the most authentic version of ourselves. When we know what our "passion" is, or life's purposeful duty for us, we can channel our energy and efforts towards that. We get the upmost fulfillment from living out our highest life's passion, or purpose.
Back in 2019, when I started painting to find and express my own creative expression, I was doing shows at the local bars and social houses. I was the first artist ever to do a show at The Big Easy in Downtown Raleigh, if that is familiar... and I remember my mentor, Luke Buchanan, came by to see my show. His response simply was, "You're good. But it's a lot!" I instantly knew what that meant. I had to step back and calm the rage, through painting and taming those emotions. I had a journey of healing ahead of me.

Beware of Distractors, They Will Cost You
Distractors are people or things that take away from you being able to fulfill your purpose, passions, and desires. Some distractors may be a necessary evil; like working a 9-5 job for stability. But some, are ones that you have a bit more control over. One must first recognize the impact or harm a distractor or distraction carried out for you in misalignment, to be able to do something about it. Then, can you choose to give less of your energy to that thing or person.
Examples of distractors may be an intimate relationship with someone who's not good for you and does not have your best interests and life purpose at heart. An envious family member who seems to have endless ops, setting traps for you to sink back into that lower version of yourself they may be more comfortable with. When people say, "protect your peace," this is that piece.

Whether it's your partner, a stale job, even a close family member, you must recognize how these distractors prevent you from achieving your highest, most authentic, aligned version of yourself. And act accordingly. Start giving more energy to the things that bring you closer to yourself, your channels. If not, the cost of not doing so, is losing days, months, even years to time wasted by distractors who consistently mishandle you.
Channeling Self Expression Through Your Purpose
When we can't freely express ourselves, there's this heavy pressure buildup that explodes one way or the other. Having channel(s) for our passions and purposes, helps direct that energy of self-expression setting it into a flow that allows for further self-alignment. Channels for you may look like: painting, cooking, gardening, traveling, learning a new language, whatever makes you feel your best while giving your energy to that passion or desire.
Wherever, and whenever you can, choose yourself, and choose your peace.

There Will Be People Who Align with Your Authentic Self
If we get caught up wasting our time on a distractor, the true blessings and people who are waiting to align with your best self won't make it to that current timeline. When we start standing up and showing up for our true selves, and putting our peace first, these people show up like angels at our doorsteps. Attracted to and aligned with the very best version of you.
